How does the 2-in-1 vacuum and mop function work?

The RCV 3 features a combined container system with separate compartments for dry debris (300ml) and water (170ml). The robot automatically adjusts its cleaning pattern to ensure both functions work effectively together.

Can it clean multiple floors and remember different layouts?

Yes, the Kärcher Home Robots App allows you to save multiple floor maps. The LiDAR navigation system creates detailed maps of each floor level, storing room layouts, furniture positions and optimal cleaning routes. You can set different cleaning schedules, no-go zones and suction levels for each floor. Simply carry the robot to different levels and it will recognise and clean according to the stored map.

What types of flooring can the RCV 3 clean effectively?

The robot works on hard floors including laminate, tile and wooden surfaces, plus low-pile carpets up to 18mm thick. The 2500 Pa suction power adjusts automatically for different surfaces. On hard floors, both vacuum and mop functions operate together. On carpets, the mopping function disengages automatically to prevent moisture damage whilst maintaining powerful suction for deep cleaning.

How does the obstacle detection and navigation system work?

The RCV 3 uses LiDAR laser technology combined with additional sensors for comprehensive navigation. The laser creates 360-degree room scans to map layouts and identify furniture. Anti-fall sensors prevent drops down stairs, whilst bump sensors detect obstacles. Height detection allows it to climb door sills and carpet edges up to 18mm. What maintenance is required and how often?

Regular maintenance includes emptying the dust container and refilling the water tank as needed. The microfiber mopping cloths should be washed after each use and replaced when worn. Filters need cleaning every few uses and replacement periodically. Side brushes may need hair removal and eventual replacement. The included cleaning tool helps maintain the main brush. How long does the battery last and what happens when it runs low?

The 14.4V lithium-ion battery provides up to 120 minutes of continuous cleaning time. Runtime varies based on suction settings, floor type and cleaning mode selected. When the battery reaches low levels, the robot automatically returns to its docking station for recharging. Once fully charged, it can resume cleaning from where it stopped, ensuring complete coverage of your home.

Can I set no-go zones and cleaning schedules?

The app provides comprehensive scheduling and zone control features. You can create virtual no-go zones to prevent cleaning in specific areas like pet feeding stations or delicate furniture areas. Set different no-go zones for vacuuming and mopping functions separately. Schedule daily, weekly or custom cleaning times for different rooms or entire floors. The robot will automatically start cleaning at programmed times.

How quiet is the RCV 3 during operation?

The robot operates at 67 dB, which is relatively quiet for a robot vacuum. This noise level is comparable to normal conversation volume, making it suitable for use whilst you're at home.
