The Xiaomi robot vacuum range explained
Xiaomi sells more robot vacuum cleaner models in the UK than most people expect, and the names don't make the line-up obvious. It helps to think of it as four families. Every current Xiaomi robot vacuum also mops, so the real differences are suction, the mop system, the dock, the design of the station and how well it sees obstacles.
Robot Vacuum 6 and 6 Max - the flagships
The newest models swap round mop pads for a roller mop that is fed fresh water as it cleans. The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 is rated at 30,000 Pa and can climb obstacles up to 4cm; the 6 Max reaches 35,000 Pa, climbs up to 6cm and uses three cameras with AI recognition for more than 200 obstacle types. Both docks empty the bin, wash the mop with hot water and dry it.
Robot Vacuum 5 and 5 Pro - high suction, hot water washing
The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 and 5 Pro both quote 20,000 Pa. The Pro adds AI binocular 3D obstacle avoidance, 15mm auto-lifting mop pads and a dock that washes the pads in hot water and dries them with hot air, with 4 litre clean and dirty water tanks. At 88mm tall, the Pro is one of the slimmest robots Xiaomi makes.
H series - hands-free docks
The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum H40, H50 and H50 Pro are built around the station. The H50 Pro has 15,000 Pa suction, extending arms for both the side brush and a mop pad to reach skirting boards, and a dock that holds up to 75 days of dust, washes the mops and dries them with hot air. The H40 is the simpler choice: 10,000 Pa and a compact self-emptying station with a 4 litre dust bag.
X and S series - value and compact
The X20+ (6,000 Pa) and X20 Max (8,000 Pa) brought full self-cleaning stations to a lower price, and TechRadar's X20+ review rated it as a keenly priced, efficient vac-mop. Independent review scores for the X20+ have been strong for the price, and owner reviews on Amazon mostly praise the mopping. The S40 range (S40C, S40, S40 Pro) is for people who don't want a big tower: the S40 Pro has 15,000 Pa and an extending mop arm but comes with a small charging dock only, so you empty the bin and rinse the pads yourself.
Xiaomi robot vacuum models compared
Figures below are from Xiaomi's own specifications and the product details in our feed. Prices move often, so the price band is a guide to where each model sat on the Xiaomi UK store in October 2026.
| Model | Suction | Mop system | Dock | Price band |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Robot Vacuum 6 Max | 35,000 Pa | Roller mop, three extending modules | Empties, hot water wash, drying | About £900 |
| Robot Vacuum 6 | 30,000 Pa | Roller mop, climbs 4cm | Empties, hot water wash, drying | £500-£550 |
| Robot Vacuum 5 Pro | 20,000 Pa | Twin pads, 15mm lift | Empties, hot water wash, hot air drying | £500-£550 |
| Robot Vacuum 5 | 20,000 Pa | Twin pads | Empties, washes, dries | About £400 |
| H50 Pro | 15,000 Pa | Twin pads, extending mop arm | 75 days of dust, wash, hot air drying | About £400 |
| S40 Pro | 15,000 Pa | Twin pads at 180rpm, extending arm | Charging only | About £260 |
| X20+ | 6,000 Pa | Twin pads at 180rpm, lift on carpet | Empties, washes, hot air drying | About £250 |
| H40 | 10,000 Pa | Mop pads | Self-empties into a 4L bag | Under £200 |
| S40C | 5,000 Pa | Mop pad | Basic dock | Under £150 |
Older models such as the Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P (2,100 Pa), S10 (4,000 Pa) and X10+ (4,000 Pa) still turn up on Amazon. They clean hard floors well enough, but every newer Xiaomi robot vacuum lifts more from carpets and avoids cables and socks far better, so the cleaning performance gap is bigger than the price gap.

Which Xiaomi robot vacuum and mop should you buy?
For a flat or small house
The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum S40 or S40 Pro is plenty for one or two rooms of hard floor with a rug or two. You will empty a small bin and rinse the pads after each run, but there is no tower to find space for. If you would rather not touch it for weeks, the H40 adds a self-emptying station for little extra; see our small robot mops for compact rivals.
For pet hair
A Xiaomi robot vacuum with an anti-tangle brush handles pet hair well, but hair still wraps round brushes and clogs bins quickly, so suction and a self-emptying dock matter more than mop features. The H50 Pro and the Robot Vacuum 5 both have 15,000 Pa or more and empty themselves; a bigger bag means fewer changes. Compare them with our robot vacuum and mops for pet hair.
For larger homes and mixed floors
Go for the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro or the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6. The 5 Pro lifts its pads 15mm when it reaches carpet, and its dock refills and cleans the mops between rooms, so a big ground floor gets done in one go. Xiaomi quotes up to 240m² per charge for the H50 Pro, which suits open-plan homes too.
For door thresholds and thick rugs
Most models manage around 20mm. The Robot Vacuum 6 climbs up to 4cm and the 6 Max up to 6cm, which makes a real difference with raised door bars and deep-pile rugs. Our threshold-climbing robot mops include other brands that cope with steps between rooms.

Mopping: pads, rollers and extending arms
Most models use two round pads that spin against the floor, and at 180rpm on the X20+ and S40 Pro they scrub harder than the drag-cloth mops on older budget robots. Auto-lift raises the pads on carpet so rugs stay dry. The H50 Pro and S40 Pro swing a pad out on an arm to reach skirting boards and table legs, the edge cleaning that round machines usually skip.
The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 series moves to a roller mop, a different design aimed at sticky marks. Fresh water is fed onto the roller as it turns and dirty water is scraped off, so it isn't spreading the same grey water across the kitchen. Hot water washing in the dock, on the 5 Pro and the 6 range, helps shift greasy kitchen marks and keeps the pads from smelling. If that matters most, browse our hot water robot vacuum mops.
Docks: charging, self-emptying and all-in-one
- Charging dock only (S40 Pro): small and cheap, but you empty the bin and wash the pads by hand.
- Self-emptying (H40): the station sucks dust into a sealed bag, so you only change the bag every few weeks.
- All-in-one (X20+, H50 Pro, 5 Pro, 6): empties the bin, refills the onboard tank, washes the mops and dries them with warm air so they don't go musty.
Station design varies a lot across the Xiaomi robot vacuum range, and all-in-one docks are tall, so measure the spot first. The 5 Pro station is 57cm high and 47cm deep with its ramp fitted. For every self-emptying robot we list, see our self-emptying robot vacuum and mops.
Navigation and obstacle avoidance
Every recent Xiaomi robot vacuum maps the home with a spinning laser (LiDAR) on top, so it cleans in neat rows and you can mark rooms, no-go zones and virtual walls on the map. The Robot Vacuum 5 uses a lifting dToF laser that drops down to help it get under low furniture. Obstacle avoidance is where the price shows: the S40 Pro uses structured light with a 129-degree view, the 5 Pro adds AI with binocular 3D cameras, and the 6 Max recognises more than 200 obstacle types. If cables and pet toys live on your floor, pay for the camera models: avoidance performance matters more day to day than an extra few thousand Pa.
Check height too. The 5 Pro is 88mm, the H50 Pro 93mm and the S40 Pro 99mm, against a typical 10cm gap under a sofa. Full details are on Xiaomi's Robot Vacuum 5 Pro specifications and H50 Pro specifications.
The Xiaomi Home app, scheduling and voice control
Every Xiaomi robot vacuum here runs through the Xiaomi Home app on Android or iOS. App control covers scheduling by day and time, suction and water flow per room, the cleaning map and remote control to start a run while you're out. Scheduling a quiet run for when you're at work is the easiest way to keep floors clean without hearing it. Remote control from the app works anywhere you have signal, and app control of no-go zones stops a Xiaomi robot vacuum wandering into the dog's water bowl. The newer models also work with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control, so "clean the kitchen" works once rooms are named. Our Alexa voice-controlled robot mops cover this in more depth.
Upkeep and running costs
Like any robot vacuum cleaner, these need a little care. Budget for dust bags on self-emptying models, replacement mop pads, a side brush and a filter every few months. Empty the dirty water tank after each mopping run and rinse it weekly, and cut hair off the main brush. Genuine and compatible Xiaomi parts are easy to find on Amazon; check the model number before ordering, and weigh the cost of bags and pads when you compare with our Roomba vacuum and mop or Shark robot vacuum mops pages.

Quick checklist before you buy
- Measure the gap under your sofa and beds - most models are 88-99mm tall.
- Measure where the dock will go: all-in-one stations are around 50-57cm high.
- Count your door thresholds and rug edges: 20mm is the usual limit, 4-6cm on the 6 series.
- Decide if you will rinse pads yourself or want the dock to wash and dry them.
- Check the price of dust bags and mop pads for the exact model.
- Pets and cables on the floor? Pay for camera-based obstacle avoidance.
Xiaomi robot vacuum FAQs
Which Xiaomi robot vacuum is best?
For most homes, the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro or H50 Pro: strong suction, mops that lift on carpet and a dock that washes and dries the pads. On a budget, the X20+ gives you a full self-cleaning station at a much lower price, and the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 is the one to choose for thick rugs and high thresholds.
Do Xiaomi robot vacuums mop?
Yes, every current model vacuums and mops. The cheaper ones use pads you rinse yourself; the H50 Pro, X20+, 5 Pro and 6 range wash and dry their own.
Which Xiaomi robot vacuums empty themselves?
The H40, H50, H50 Pro, X20+, X20 Max, Robot Vacuum 5, 5 Pro, 6 and 6 Max. The S40 Pro comes with a charging dock only.
Is Xiaomi the same as Roborock or Dreame?
No. Both started out making robots in Xiaomi's ecosystem and the first Mi Robot Vacuum was built with Roborock, but today they sell their own ranges. Current Xiaomi-branded robots are sold and supported by Xiaomi. See our budget robot vacuum and mop picks for other low-cost brands.
Which app does a Xiaomi robot vacuum use?
The Xiaomi Home app (previously Mi Home). It handles maps, schedules, room settings and firmware updates.
Will a Xiaomi robot vacuum fit under my sofa?
Measure the gap. Most are 88-99mm tall, so they clear a 10cm space; the laser turret is usually the highest point.
