What is an all-in-one robot mop?
An all-in-one robot mop is a robot vacuum cleaner with a mopping system that comes with a large docking station. Ecovacs calls these docks Omni stations, Dreame and Eureka use Ultra, and Eufy and Roborock use their own names, but the idea is the same. When the robot finishes a room, it drives back to the dock, which takes over the jobs you would otherwise do by hand.
A basic dock only tops up the battery. With one of these, the dust bin is sucked empty into a bag, dirty mop pads are scrubbed and rinsed, the dirty water is pumped into its own tank, and warm air dries the pads so they don't go musty. Many docks also add detergent automatically and refill the onboard water tank between rooms, so a large home can be mopped in one session.
What the station does
Self-emptying
A powerful fan in the base pulls dust and hair out of the robot's small bin into a sealed bag of around 2.5 to 4 litres. Manufacturers quote 60 to 100 days between bag changes, depending on how often you clean and whether you have pets. Some newer docks, such as the Ecovacs OmniCyclone models, are bagless and use a cyclone instead. Our self emptying robot mops page has more on this feature alone.
Mop washing
The dock sprays clean water onto the pads or roller and scrubs them against ridges in its tray. Cold-water washing works for everyday dust, but hot water shifts grease and sticky kitchen spills far better. Docks in this collection wash at 55°C to 80°C, and the Mova Mobius 60 heats its water to 100°C. See our hot water mops for those that wash the hottest.
Hot-air drying
Damp pads left in a dark dock soon smell. Warm-air drying at 45°C to 63°C runs for a few hours after each clean and is now standard on most robot mops with a full station.
Water tanks and detergent
Most docks hold separate clean and dirty water tanks of about 2.5 to 4 litres each. The dirty water goes into a sealed tank you empty into the sink. Many also have a compartment for floor cleaning solution that is dosed automatically, which is covered in our guide to mops that use cleaning solution. Some models can be plumbed into a water supply and drain with an optional kit, so you never carry tanks at all.
Recharging
The dock is still a charger. When the battery runs low mid-clean, the robot returns, recharges to the level it needs and then carries on from where it stopped, so large floors get finished in one go.
Basic dock vs auto-empty vs all-in-one station
| Basic dock | Auto-empty dock | All-in-one station | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charges the battery | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Empties the dust bin | No, after every clean | Yes, weeks at a time | Yes, weeks at a time |
| Washes and dries the mop | No | No | Yes |
| Refills the water | No | No | Yes |
| Dock size | Small | Medium, tall tower | Large, about 40-50cm each way |
| What you still do | Empty the bin, rinse the pad | Rinse the pad, fill the tank | Swap bags, refill and empty tanks |
If you mostly need daily vacuuming with the odd damp wipe, a 2-in-1 robot vacuum with a mop on a simple dock is cheaper and smaller. If you want genuinely hands-off mopping, a full robot mop station is the only type that keeps the pads clean.
Mopping systems: rollers, spinning pads and drag cloths
The station can only clean the mop the robot carries, so the mopping hardware matters as much as the dock.
- Roller mops, as on the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni, Deebot T80 Omni and Eufy E25 Omni, spin a long cylinder that is rinsed with clean water continuously while it cleans, so it never pushes dirty water around.
- Twin spinning pads, as on the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2, Dreame L50 Ultra and Eufy X10 Pro Omni, press down and rotate to scrub. Many swing one pad out to reach skirting boards and corners.
- Drag cloths on budget robot vacuums simply wipe behind the machine. They are fine for light dust but struggle with dried-on marks, and few full docks use them.

How to choose an all-in-one robot mop
Room for the dock
Measure before you buy a robot mop station. The Eufy E25 Omni is about 37 x 46 x 44cm and the Ecovacs X8 Pro Omni is listed at 59 x 38 x 40.5cm, and you need clear floor space in front for the robot to drive in. Utility rooms, hallways and the end of a kitchen run work well, ideally near the sink.
Carpets and rugs
Look for automatic mop lifting and carpet detection. Most robot mops lift their pads by 9 to 12mm, which clears short-pile rugs. For deep-pile carpets, choose a model that can leave its pads in the dock, such as the Qrevo Edge 2, or one that never mops carpet at all.

Suction and pet hair
Suction in this range runs from 8,000Pa on the Eufy X10 Pro Omni to 30,000Pa on the Mova Mobius 60. Higher numbers help a robot on carpets, but brush design matters more for hair. Rubber or anti-tangle brushes stop long hair wrapping, which our guide to the best robot vacuum and mop for pet hair explains.
Navigation and obstacle avoidance
LiDAR lets the robot map your home room by room so you can set no-mop zones around rugs and wooden floors. A front camera adds recognition of socks, cables and pet mess, and top robots claim to recognise 150 to 280 types of object. See our obstacle avoidance mops and smart mapping mops for the best of these.
Thresholds and height
Most robot mops will climb a 2cm door strip. The Dreame L50 Ultra and Mova Mobius 60 use extending legs to step over ledges of 5 to 6cm, and our threshold climbing mops list covers older homes with raised doorways. Check the robot's height too: the Qrevo Edge 2 is 8cm and the Deebot T50 Pro Omni 8.1cm, low enough for most sofas.
Upkeep you will still do
Ask how long the dust bag lasts, how big the tanks are and how easy they are to lift out. Large tanks with handles at the top of the dock are easiest. For the most hands-off options, see our low maintenance models.

Robot mop stations compared
These figures come from the robot vacuum and mop listings in this collection. Runtimes are manufacturer claims on standard settings, so expect less on maximum suction.

Living with an all-in-one station
The dock takes care of the robot's daily jobs, but a little attention keeps it working and smelling fresh.
| Job | How often |
|---|---|
| Empty the dirty water tank and refill the clean one | Every few cleans, or after a messy one |
| Rinse the dirty water tank and wipe the wash tray | Weekly |
| Change the dust bag | Every 2-3 months |
| Cut hair from the brushes, clean the sensors | Every 2-4 weeks |
| Wash or replace the filter | Every 2-3 months |
| Replace mop pads or roller, side brushes | Every 3-6 months, or when worn |
- Empty dirty water promptly. A full tank left for days is the main cause of smells.
- In hard-water areas, which cover much of the south and east of England, limescale can build up in the dock's pipes and heater. Use the brand's descaling routine or filtered water if the manual allows it.
- Use only the brand's own floor cleaner in the detergent tank. Ordinary floor cleaner can foam and damage the pumps.
- Tidy up before the robot's scheduled clean, especially cables, socks and pet bowls.
- Leave the dock plugged in. It needs power to dry the pads after each clean.

Which floors suit all-in-one robot mops with charging stations?
They are at their best on hard floors: tiles, laminate, vinyl and sealed wood. Set the water flow low on wood and laminate, as too much water can lift the boards over time. Our guides to robot mopping on tile floors, hardwood floors and laminate floors cover each surface. In a home that is mostly carpet, a self-emptying robot vacuum without the mopping dock will do the job for less.
Safety and recycling
Robot vacuums run on lithium-ion batteries, so treat them like any other rechargeable gadget. Use the supplied dock and cable for your robot, keep the dock away from heat and water spills, and stop using a battery that swells or overheats. The London Fire Brigade advice on lithium batteries is a good checklist. When one reaches the end of its life, find a drop-off point through Recycle Your Electricals rather than putting it in the bin. For full station details on a typical model, the Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni product page lists everything its dock does.
Robot mop station FAQs
Does a robot mop station need plumbing in?
No. Most use clean and dirty water tanks that you fill and empty by hand. Some models offer an optional kit that connects the dock to your water supply and waste pipe, which suits a utility room.
How often do I need to empty the tanks?
With 2.5 to 4 litre tanks, most robot mop owners refill and empty every few cleans. A small flat may go a week; a large house mopped daily will need it more often.
Is hot water mop washing worth it?
Yes if you have a kitchen or pets. Water at 55°C to 80°C lifts grease and sticky residue that cold water leaves on the pads, and the pads smell less.
Will it mop my rugs?
Not if the robot has carpet detection. It lifts the pads by around 10mm or avoids the rug, and some models leave their pads in the dock to vacuum carpets.
Are they noisy?
The self-emptying cycle is loud for 10 to 20 seconds. Washing and drying are quiet, but set a do-not-disturb time in the robot's app if the dock is near a bedroom, or see our quiet robot vacuum and mop picks.
Are all-in-one robot mops worth the money?
If you have a lot of hard floor and want it mopped daily, yes. The station removes the jobs that make a cheaper robot mop a chore. For a small flat, a budget robot mop may be enough.
